Discovering sickness in the workplace could mean healthy employees' refusal to come to the work due to safety concerns. According to the workplace health and safety regulations in most countries they would be well within their rights to do so.
Therefore a practiced workplace cleaning and disinfecting regime must be in place so that if sickness is discovered then immediate measures are taken to clean and disinfect the area in question so that other staff can and will return to the workplace as quickly as possible so that business operations can resume rapidly.
Unfortunately because of the nature of an influenza pandemic the normal personnel who provide these workplace cleaning and disinfecting services may not be available to do so.
Should no workplace cleaning and disinfecting services be available for whatever reason, then a nominated volunteer (usually The Influenza Manager) will need to perform this function themselves.
If this is the case, then refer to the following table to assist in the cleaning, disinfecting, sterilization, decontamination regime.

Sodium hypochlorite: 1000 parts per million of available chlorine, usually
achieved by a 1 in 5 dilution of hospital grade bleach. |
Disinfection of material contaminated with blood body

Should be used in well ventilated areas. Protective clothing required while handling and using undiluted bleach. Do not mix with strong acids to avoid release of chlorine gas. Corrosive to metals. |

Flammable and toxic. To be used in well ventilated areas. Avoid inhalation. Keep away from heat sources, electrical equipment, flames,and hot surfaces. Allow it to dry completely, particularly when using diathermy, as this can cause diathermy burns. |
