An emergency callout tree (or communications tree) allows instructions to staff to be disseminated quickly and easily, and is vital in your arsenal of tools for communicating to staff.
An emergency callout tree is simply involving the staff themselves to communicate to each other in a sort of cascading information flow. Usually it will involve supervisors or 'team leaders' to communicate to their own teams members.
All the person at the top of the tree needs to do is to inform the team leaders, and they in turn will inform the team members.
Depending on the size of the organisation, more layers of notifiers can be added. Similarly each department can (and should) have its own communications tree in place.
You can use telephone calls or probably better still, SMS messages to get the message out.
For example, if a staff member falls sick in the workplace, more than likely all staff in that department or floor may have to be evacuated until a full clean up and disinfection of the area around the staff’s workstation has been completed. Once it has been completed you can initiate the emergency callout tree to get all staff back to work quickly and easily.
