Click on the image below to view the 'Suppliers sheet' in the Risk Analysis template. Complete a list of suppliers to your business.
Include suppliers of raw materials for production, office supplies, delivery services and wholesalers (for retailers) for example. Do not include suppliers of utilities as this is covered in a separate section.
In the first column, enter the name of the supplier and the item supplied.
In the second column, enter a score between 1 and 5 for the importance of the supply item in your day-to-day operations, where 1 indicates low importance and 5 indicates high importance.
In the third column, assess the impact on operations if supply of that item is interrupted. 1 indicates low impact, and 5 indicates high impact.
In the fourth column, determine your current back-up supplier status, where 1 indicates you have full back-up in place and ready, and 5 indicates there is no back-up in place for this item.
Finally add together the scores in column 2, 3 & 4 and place the total in the fifth column.
The score you are looking to reach is the lowest score possible. A total score of 3 points would indicate that this item is least important, has least impact if supply is interrupted, and you have full back-up in place and ready anyway.
Conversely a total score of 15 would indicate that this item is extremely important, the impact if supply is interrupted would be disastrous and currently no back-up supplier is in place.
An item with a score of 15 would need immediate and top priority attention.
